# Waves Swim School
Waves Swim School is a family-owned learn-to-swim programme based in Erith, established over 20 years ago by Tony Ross and his late wife Clare. Today, the school continues to be run by Tony alongside his daughter Naomi and sister Georgina, maintaining the personal touch and quality instruction that has defined the business since its inception.
The school serves children aged four and upwards, from complete beginners through to competent swimmers, accepting all abilities within their structured seven-level syllabus. What sets Waves apart is the depth of expertise behind the operation. Tony was a National Competitive Swimmer and open water enthusiast who previously coached swimmers to International and GB standard. This competitive pedigree, combined with genuine teaching passion, permeates the entire team. All instructors are ASA-qualified and trained specifically in the "Waves Way," ensuring consistency and excellence across the programme.
Rather than relying on generic teaching methods, Waves has developed a unique syllabus designed to meet and exceed expectations, with progression pathways clearly mapped through named groups—from Starfish through to the advanced Survival Series levels. The teaching team is deliberately recruited from competitive swimming backgrounds, ensuring instructors understand not just technique, but the motivation and individual needs of each child.
Waves operates both during school terms and through intensive holiday programmes, providing flexible options for families. The family-run ethos means children benefit from continuity of care and a supportive environment where their swimming development is genuinely personalised.
