# International Swimming Academy
International Swimming Academy is a specialist swimming school established in 2014, operating from Queen Elisabeth Jubilee School in West London. Founded by Miguel and Silvia, the academy serves infants from 3 months old through to children aged 5+ years, offering tailored tuition that prioritises water safety and independent swimming skills.
The academy operates two distinct programmes. The Water Safety Programme caters to babies and young children from 3 months, introducing them to water confidence through carefully structured sessions. The Ready to Swim Programme targets children aged 3.5 years and upwards, teaching traditional swimming strokes once foundational safety skills are established.
What distinguishes International Swimming Academy is their proprietary Kick-Float-Kick methodology. Rather than relying on buoyancy aids or armbands, children master back-floating and breath control—skills applicable even in everyday clothes. This approach enables remarkably young swimmers to complete 25 metres by age 5 and equips them to self-rescue in accidental water entry situations.
The academy's philosophy centres on inclusion; all children, regardless of developmental age or ability, can commence the Beginner Level. Lessons are intensely personalised, adapted to each swimmer's individual age, level and progress. Sessions run throughout the week including weekends, following the school calendar, with availability for courses and instructor training worldwide. Their hands-on approach combines repetition, reward and encouragement to build genuine water competence and independence rather than mere swimming technique.
